Ten Years at DLD College London and Ten Years of Get Ready for Medicine
By Helen Lami
Academic Summer Camps, celebrates 10 years at DLD College Westminster this summer. DLD is located opposite the Houses of Parliament. Here are some images of the wonderful location and it seems yesterday that Helen Lami, our CEO went up in the builders lift as DLD London was being built.

We have also been running Get Ready for Medicine, for 10 years and was one of the UK's first specialist pre-medicine summer programs for teenagers aged 14 to 17. A decade ago, Helen Lami, CEO, saw a need as she met very motivated teenagers who wanted to study medicine. Today, former students are studying medicine and working as doctors around the world. This is so exciting and a great medicine summer school for teenagers who want to explore if medicine is for them.
This summer, our medicine programme is more popular than ever. The first course running from 28 June to 12 July 2026 is already full. A second course from 12 July to 26 July 2026 has been opened to meet demand and just 6 places remain. Anyone considering this programme is encouraged to book now.
Students spend two weeks at one of the most inspiring addresses in London, right opposite the Houses of Parliament with views of Big Ben and the River Thames. They work alongside real doctors, carry out heart and lung dissections, earn their Emergency First Aid certificate, prepare their Personal Statement, practise for medical school interviews and learn more about UCAT. Every student leaves with two CPD qualifications and a full written report.
At Academic Summer Camps, we believe that academic learning is not the opposite of experience. It is experience. There is no better place to prove that than Westminster, London on the Career Pathway program: Get Ready for Medicine.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is Academic Summer different from other medicine summer schools?
As well as the best London summer school camp, we were one of the very first so we have experience and have seen the results of what motivated students can go on to achieve. Our classes have a maximum of 12 students so every student gets real attention. When you compare our prices to similar programmes, you will see we offer something really special at a very fair price. Good quality and good value. That is important to us as we want to invest in our future doctors, and our students leave us confident with good communication skills and study skills to help them with the next steps.
What qualifications does my student leave with?
Every student with complete the course with two CPD qualifications. One for Get Ready for Medicine and one for our Be a Leader leadership programme. These are real qualifications that go on a CV and help with university applications. Your student will also receive a full written report and an Emergency First Aid Certificate.
Is this programme right for international students?
Absolutely, and we love welcoming students from around the world! Every summer we have students from more than 60 countries. You need a B2 level of English to join. We take care of everything including airport transfers, meals, residential accommodation and 24 hour supervision.
